Dasha Antyukhova
Self portrait
Initially, I had planned to depict one specific thing, but in the end, I found myself painting intuitively, as the previous layers seemed to influence my decisions. At first, I had wanted to preserve something from Sasha's layer, which had caught my attention the last time I worked on the piece. After looking at it for a week, I was still drawn to it and incorporated some of its elements.
There was a powerful dialogue happening within the painting - something in her words resonated with me, and I felt compelled to support it. There was a sense of shared pain that I wanted to bring to the forefront of the work.
Another interesting aspect of the process was that I found myself devaluing my own work a bit, knowing that my layer would not be the last. As a result, I did not bring it to the level of perfection that I might have otherwise.
In the end, the painting turned out to be a self-portrait of sorts. When you paint intuitively, it's like allowing your soul to speak through your art. I feel that I was able to capture a powerful energy in the piece.
Our rules
the actual work above
previous works below
There is only one canvas measuring 40x50 cm. Each artist paints on top of the previous layer, effectively erasing the previous work. However, if you see a work you like, you have the opportunity to purchase it and save it from being painted over. A new layer can be added to the painting at any time.
The initial cost of the painting is announced on the first day of its presentation and decreases over time. If you are interested in purchasing a piece, please contact us via email.
